Cleansed by the rain

I do not find the rain depressing. I find it refreshing. It beams new life. Each drop joyfully falls from the sky and lands on the ground synchronised. The lightening is the music orchestrating the drops and guiding them on their way down. Each drop is eager to join the rest, fleeing the clouds. The wind joins in and the rain dances to the music of the sky. Occasionally we are invited to view the picture painted by the merger of the rain and the sun.  It’s a vision of beauty. It’s the sound of the earth and the sky uniting to celebrate something new. It’s calling us. It’s inviting us to join in the festival.

 Why do we misunderstand the rain? Its not tears from the sky. It’s a ceremony, a spectacular display from the heavens. Yet this rain tonight, with all its beauty, brought tears to my eyes. I was not sad. I went to the open window and I spoke to the rain.

 “What are you trying to say to me rain? I can feel you on my skin and smell you in the air. I can see you cleansing everything in sight. I can hear you talking. What are you trying to say to me rain?”

  “Purify your soul”, the rain whispered in my ear.

 My tear drops stopped falling and I smiled. The rain waved goodbye as it descended the sky. And silence filled the night.
